Sainte-Cécile and the Palais de la Berbie
Sainte-Cécile Cathedral, the largest brick cathedral in the world, impresses with its massive silhouette and its interior painted in the Italian manner. Next door, the Palais de la Berbie, the former bishops’ palace, now shelters the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum, where over a thousand works tell the story of the painter from Albi. A cultural date here feels like a small lesson in history and art, happily shared.
Old Bridge and the Tarn banks
The Old Bridge, built over the Tarn in the 11th century and still in use, offers one of the finest views of the cathedral. Below, the banks are followed on foot: you cross paths with the gabare boatmen who offer river rides. A late-afternoon date, pink light on brick, leaves lovely images in memory.
Saint-Salvi Collegiate and Place du Vigan
The Saint-Salvi Collegiate and its small, peaceful cloister invite a silent pause in the heart of Albi. Place du Vigan, lined with terraces, gathers local life and happily welcomes a first drink. On Lyad, people from Albi share their favourite tables and outings; it is up to you to find someone to extend the evening with.
